Miso-Kare contains Misoprostol and belongs to a group of hormones called prostaglandins that
can be used safely and effectively for many gynecological procedures such as prevention of
excessive bleeding after childbirth (postpartum hemorrhage), treatment of incomplete abortion
and management of miscarriage, cervical ripening and induction of labor.
Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality in Kenya. This
complication is easily prevented or treated by administering Miso-Kare to the woman after

Mifepristone is a drug that blocks a hormone called progesterone that is needed for pregnancy
to continue thus the uterine lining begins to shed, the cervix begins to soften. Mifepristone,
when used together with another medicine called misoprostol expels an early pregnancy.
