Job Title: Procurement and Logistics Intern – Uganda

Department: Procurement

Period: 3 Months

Location:  Kampala, Uganda

Overall purpose

To learn and gain practical experience on the job by supporting the Procurement and Logistics team in the
delivery of services efficiently and effectively.

Key Relationships

External – DKT customers; third-party logistics company (United Healthcare Distributors)

Internal – Across the organization, maintain effective communication with all departments, especially
with Finance, Marketing, Programs and Procurement

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the procurement process by researching, sourcing, and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors.
• Support the Procurement officer in preparing and issuing purchase orders.
• Monitor and track order status and delivery timelines to ensure on-time delivery of goods and services.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier agreements, and contracts.
• Ensure that supplier payments have the right documentation before submitting them to Finance for
settlement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet procurement needs and project requirements.
 

Key Performance Indicators:

• Accuracy of purchase order processing.
• Timeliness of order processing.
• Accuracy of inventory postings.
 

Required Qualifications & Skills :

• Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• Member of relevant professional body.
• Recently completed a degree in education studies in the last 2 years.
• Exposure in a fast-paced commercial office environment is an added advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• SProactive.
• Highly effective customer service skills.
