Job Title:  Procurement and Logistics Intern

Reports to:  Procurement Officer

Period of internship:  3-6 months

Location:  Nairobi, Kenya

Overall purpose

To learn and gain practical experience on the job by supporting the Procurement and Logistics team in the delivery of services efficiently and effectively.

Key Relationships

External – DKT customers; third-party logistics company (Imperial Management Solutions)
Internal – Across the organization maintain effective communication with all departments, especially with Finance, Marketing, Programs and Procurement

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the procurement process by researching, sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors.
• Support the Procurement officer in preparing and issuing purchase orders.
• Monitor and track order status and delivery timelines to ensure on-time delivery of goods and services.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier agreements and contracts.
• Assist in maintaining inventory control and optimizing inventory levels.
Ensure that supplier payments have the right documentation before submitting them to Finance for settlement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet procurement needs and project requirement.

Accuracy of order processing
Timeliness of order processing
Accuracy of order tracking
 

Required Qualifications & Skills

Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• Member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management or other relevant professional body.
Completed degree education studies in the last 2 years.
Exposure in a fast-paced commercial office environment is an added advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Superior time management and organizational skills.
• Proactive
• Highly effective customer service skills.
